Wisconsin Forest Tales - Biographies

Julia Pferdehirt says she has one of the best jobs in the world. She believes that stories, whether true or fanciful, bring history to life. Wisconsin Forest Tales is her third book about Wisconsin for young readers. Teachers and students may have enjoyed reading her other books Freedom Train North: Stories of the Underground Railroad in Wisconsin and They Came to Wisconsin. As a writer and professional storyteller, Julia visits schools and libraries across Wisconsin. Among her programs is Jack Tales, a collection of true stories and "tall tales" from the history of logging and lumberjacks. Other programs include author visits, writing workshops, stories of the underground railroad in Wisconsin and "In Their Own Words," which are first-person stories of Wisconsin immigrants.
