Ernest W. Brickner
1912-1989

Owner of Tree Farm #455, Ernie Brickner was recognized for his "hands on accomplishments in sound forest management, the wise use of our natural resources and his sincere practice of the conservation and environmental ethic. Named Wisconsin's 1977 Tree Farmer of the Year, then Outstanding Regional Tree Farmer, his Tree Farm became an outdoor laboratory for schools, youth groups, farmers, sportspersons, educators, foresters, where Ernie demonstrated the compatibility of silvicultural practices, land use and recreational activities. A charter member of the Wisconsin Woodland Owners Association, he was elected its first president in 1979.
